The Vine Schools Curriculum Intent

At the Vine Schools of Christian Malford, Seagry and Walter Powell, our curriculum is driven by the need to foster children’s growth in all aspects of life, including interpersonal skills and critical thinking as well as academic knowledge. This drive has lead us to identify the following key intentions we wish for our curriculum to achieve:

  • To excite and engage our children and inspire them to be inquisitive about the world around them.
  • To provide a breadth of curriculum coverage comparable to the National Curriculum over the course of the children’s educational journey with us, tailored to suit our unique context.
  • To ensure our curriculum is progressive and that children are able to build a cumulative bank of knowledge and skills in preparation of the next stage of their education and the world beyond.
  • To provide children with curriculum enrichment opportunities.
  • To demonstrate our CE ethos and ‘GRAPES’ values in order to live out the vision of our individual schools.
  • To develop language skills, building a rich vocabulary.
  • To teach content that fulfils the diverse needs of our small schools.
  • To develop children’s cultural understanding and respect.
  • To encourage children to pursue their own talents and interests.
  • To develop links with the local and wider community.
  • To promote positive mental health and wellbeing.
  • To ensure that every child fulfils their academic potential.
  • To provide opportunities to develop reading and writing skills across the breadth of the curriculum in order to understand their use in the wider world.
  • To promote our children as leaders and encourage them to become courageous advocates.
  • To seek opportunities for interactions between the three schools to promote socialisation amongst wider group of peers in preparation for secondary school.
  • To implement a curriculum that develops the whole child during their learning journeys at our schools.

All of our teaching is founded on the National Curriculum.
